Don’t sell
Gainesville short.

A public asset deserves a public purpose. We oppose selling Ironwood to an outside private buyer when its next chapter could give so much more back to Gainesville.

You don’t have to play golf to have a stake in this land. It is part of our city. Its future should be measured in what it does for our people.

The choice beneath the choice

Who holds the keys?
Who gets the benefit?

Better greens matter. So does the purpose behind them. Our nonprofit vision is to reinvest operating surplus in the course, affordable access and community programs. We want Gainesville to be the beneficiary of Ironwood’s success.

The path we oppose

HangTime’s
private purchase.

We oppose selling Ironwood to HangTime. A city asset should serve a lasting community mission. We believe Gainesville deserves more than a change in ownership and a better golf business.

Our position: don’t sell our community short.

An alternative we support

Continued
City ownership.

If the City keeps Ironwood, we support its place as a public good. We hope to see continued care, investment and improvement.

Our priority: the community comes first.

HangTime’s initial proposal sought a purchase or lease and included course improvements and community programs. Its principals have UF ties. Read the June 18 reporting ↗ Our opposition is to the private-sale path. The City’s published agenda will establish the specific action before the Commission.

Do the groundwork.

Make the agreements.

Resolve the property and easement arrangements needed to move forward.

This is our requested next step. Funding, studies and agreements must come together. The period and conditions depend on the City’s final agreement.

A great round is
just the beginning.

Better golf. A warmer welcome. More ways for Gainesville to find its place here.

For the home crowd

Top-tier facilities.
Local muni rates.

A better course shouldn’t price out the people who call it home. Our ambition is exceptional public golf and practice facilities, with everyday golf at a familiar municipal price.

This is why we’re pursuing a nonprofit future. Philanthropy would help fund the improvements, and operating surplus would go back into the course and community. That means less pressure to pay for every upgrade through the price of a round.

A goal, not a confirmed rate. Cart charges, practice fees, inclusions and eligibility are still to be finalized. Public play would remain open to visitors.

The nonprofit structure is in development; Work & Family LLC d/b/a The Track remains the proposer. Facilities and programs depend on funding, feasibility, agreements and approvals.

This dream has
real roots.

In West Palm Beach and Augusta, public golf is becoming a bigger community asset. Here’s how those projects came together, who benefits and what we can bring home to Ironwood.

Ironwood gave us more than a place to play. It gave us friendships, memories and a connection to this community. We want to carry that forward.

worth knowing.

The City’s meeting guide
What are we asking the City to approve?

A conditional 180-day opportunity for The Track to secure at least $2 million in donations, complete feasibility studies and reach the property agreements needed to move forward. We are requesting an exclusive letter of intent. The final motion and terms will be determined through the City’s process. This is not approval of every proposed facility or an immediate property transfer.

Will Ironwood still be a public course?

Public play is central to The Track’s proposal. You would not need to buy a membership to belong here. Public access and property ownership are separate matters; any final lease or sale terms still require agreement with the City.

What if the City decides to keep Ironwood?

We support Ironwood remaining a City-owned public good and hope for continued care and improvement. We are asking for the chance to show what our locally led plan can bring to its future. We oppose a sale to a non-local group because we believe this course is best served by people rooted in Gainesville.

What does the plan mean for local pricing?

We want a better course that locals can keep coming back to. Our goal is a local green fee around $35 for Alachua County residents and qualifying workers. This is a goal, not a finalized rate or an all-inclusive price. Cart charges, practice access, eligibility and other details are still being developed.

Is the funding or nonprofit structure already in place?

The $2 million is a fundraising goal for the proposed 180-day period, not money we are representing as already raised. We are pursuing nonprofit stewardship, with the structure still being developed. Work & Family LLC d/b/a The Track remains the proposer. No completed tax-exempt status or fiscal sponsorship is being represented.

Do I have to speak, register or be a golfer?

No. You can attend without speaking or signing up with us, and you do not have to play golf to care about Ironwood. The City Commission votes; attendees can show support and participate through the City’s public-comment process. Attendance does not reserve a seat. Check the official agenda and participation guidance before the meeting.

Is 5 p.m. the time of the vote?

Five o’clock is our campaign arrival time. We want supporters inside City Hall by then. The official item timing has not yet been verified, and the meeting may run longer than expected. Check the City’s published agenda for the latest schedule.

Gainesville, all the way down.

See you out there.
